Wildfire resilience is strongest when neighbors work together. When a group of homes takes coordinated action- clearing fuels, improving access routes, and planning together- everyone becomes safer and better prepared.

Wildfire doesn’t stop at property lines. The conditions on surrounding homes, shared roads, and open spaces shape how a fire moves and how safely people can evacuate. Organizing your neighborhood creates:

Bigger Impacts, Cost-Share Funding

Step 1. Become a Neighborhood Ambassador

Neighborhood Ambassadors are local teams of residents in an area who help bring neighbors together around wildfire preparedness. You don’t need special experience- just an interest in supporting your community.

Ambassadors receive:

Guidance from TRWC staff and partners
A community risk assessment for the neighborhood
Support organizing meetings and outreach
Access to technical experts and educational resources
Opportunities for funding once key steps are completed.

Step 2. Apply for cost-share Funding Through TRWC

When neighborhoods work together and complete the basic steps of the Ambassador Program, they may become eligible for cost-share funding to help reduce hazardous fuels.

Cost-share can support:

Brush and vegetation removal
Chipping and cleanup days
Improving access/egress routes
Treatment of strategic open spaces
Coordinated Home Ignition Zone work

By pooling resources and working across property lines, neighborhoods can complete more meaningful mitigation at a lower individual cost.
